Natural Gas Strainers

Strainers are the first piece of equipment used for the conditioning and filtration of natural gas, oil, water, or just about any fluid moving in a pipeline. We have all possible configurations: “Y” (wye), “T” (Tee), simplex, duplex, and automatics. Body materials include cast iron, steel, stainless, and non-metal: plastic, fiberglass, etc. They are a very sturdy, long lasting option for removing the larger contaminants: they are very reliable down to about 50micron size particles. The straining element is usually made in stainless steel with 1/8” or 1/4″ standard perforations, and a mesh is added for the desired particle size to be removed.

Simplex Strainers

Basket type filters or strainers. Application: permanent. Connections: Threaded 1/2“ to 2″. Flanged: 2-42”. Materials: Body: iron, steel, stainless steel and others. Filter element (basket): stainless steel. Special materials available. Filtration grades available: 1″ to 0.001” (25 microns). Advantages: ease of maintenance for its exclusive easy opening design, great particle holding capacity, less pressure drop over the filter element length.

Y Strainers

‘Y’ (wye) filters or strainers. Application: temporary, or with low concentration of contaminants. Connections: Threaded 1/2“ to 3″. Flanged: 2-24“. Materials: Body: iron, steel, stainless steel and others. Filter element (sieve): stainless steel. Filtration grades available:. 1″ to 0.001” (25 microns). Advantages: low cost. Disadvantages: low particle retention capacity, maintenance difficulty.

Duplex Strainers

Basket type filters or strainers “Duplex”. Application: Permanent. Connections: Threaded 1/2“ to 2″. Flanged: 2-18”. Materials: Body: iron, steel, stainless steel and others Filter element (basket): stainless steel. Filtration grades available: 1″ to 0.001” (25 microns). Advantages: no need to interrupt the cleaning process, as there’s always a stand-by strainer. Ease of maintenance for its exclusive easy opening design, great particle holding capacity, less pressure drop over the filter element length.

Automatic Strainers

Automatic Filters or Strainers, “Self-Cleaning” basket. Application: Permanent. Connections: Flanged, 2“ to 42″. Materials: Body: iron, steel, stainless steel and others. Filter element (basket): Stainless steel. Filtration levels available: 1/4“ down to 125 microns. Advantages: due to design of automatic operation, does not require to interrupt the cleaning process. It’s controlled by timers, pressure drop setting, or manually.
